Niger State Governor Umaru Bago on Wednesday blamed a renewed wave of attacks in parts of the state on the activities of Lakurawa, bandits, ISWAP and Boko Haram operatives, and announced plans to recruit 10,000 youths to help confront the insurgency.

Speaking during a condolence visit to Kontagora following the recent attacks in the Niger North senatorial district, Mr Bago said the militants had infiltrated the state from neighbouring Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna states.
