Rev (Dr) Sam Aboyeji, the General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, recently addressed the issue of corruption in the country, stating that the lack of fear of God is a major contributing factor. This statement was made during an interview with TRIBUNE ONLINE at the church’s Ajebo Lagos-Ibadan Campground on Monday, April 8. Aboyeji emphasized that until Nigeria addresses the issue of corruption seriously, the country will continue to struggle.
According to Aboyeji, corruption has been a long-standing problem in Nigeria that has significantly impacted the economy, leading to a decline in development and progress over the years. He believes that in order to combat corruption effectively, there needs to be a strong emphasis on professional discipline and integrity among those in positions of power and responsibility.
The General Overseer stressed the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, particularly when they engage in corrupt practices. He emphasized the need for improved consequence management to ensure that those who commit acts of corruption are properly punished.
Aboyeji’s comments shed light on the pervasive nature of corruption in Nigeria and the detrimental effects it has had on the country as a whole. He highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of corruption, including the lack of fear of God, which he believes plays a significant role in perpetuating corrupt practices.
The General Overseer’s insights serve as a reminder of the urgent need for Nigeria to tackle the issue of corruption head-on and implement measures that promote transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior in all sectors of society. By fostering a culture of integrity and upholding the principles of justice and righteousness, Nigeria can work towards overcoming the challenges posed by corruption and building a more prosperous and just society for all its citizens.
Aboyeji’s words serve as a call to action for leaders, policymakers, and citizens alike to work together to combat corruption and uphold the values of honesty, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. By addressing the underlying causes of corruption and promoting a culture of accountability and responsibility, Nigeria can strive towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
