Four Nigerian wrestlers secured qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics in their respective events at the ongoing African championships and Olympics qualifiers held in Alexandria, Egypt. Additionally, African Games champion Christiana Ogunsanya secured her qualification in the 53kg category by overpowering Shaimaa Mohamed of Egypt with a score of 10-0. However, Mercy Genesis narrowly missed out on a spot in the Paris Olympics after a 5-7 defeat to Nada Mohamed of Egypt in the 50kg weight class.
With five female wrestlers representing Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the hope now lies on the Nigerian male freestyle wrestlers to secure their spots on the final day of the qualification window.
