Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed his satisfaction with the presidency under the Bola Tinubu administration for not responding to Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate. In a tweet, Ahmad commended Tinubu’s administration for keeping silent on Obi’s recent comments on national issues. He also commended the presidency for responding to Atiku Abubakar, the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on his comments about national issues despite the silence on Obi’s remarks.
The former Buhari’s aide noted that the presidency has been consistently responding to Atiku while keeping silent on Obi’s comments. Ahmad emphasized that the presidency’s constant responses to Atiku’s comments and the silence on Obi’s remarks is a show of superiority to the Labour Party chieftain.
Recall that Atiku and Obi recently commented on the state of insecurity in the country. Atiku had asked President Tinubu to resign if he could not solve the country’s challenges, while Obi decried the state of kidnapping and killings in the country, visiting victims’ families.
In a tweet, Ahmad praised the presidency’s approach, saying, “I like the way the Presidency puts Peter Obi in the right place, despite his unending comments since after his loss, and there has never been a direct response to him. Meanwhile, Atiku has been receiving back-to-back responses from the State House. There are different levels of engagement at play.”
Ahmad’s remarks highlight the ongoing political tension between Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi. This situation underscores the political dynamics and strategic communication employed by the presidency to address comments made by opposition figures. Overall, the tweet expressed approval of the administration’s handling of differing opinions and criticisms from key political figures.
