Bashir Ahmad, a former special assistant on digital communications to former President Muhammadu Buhari, has called for politicians in Kano state to set aside their personal interests and allow the reconciliation efforts initiated by President Bola Tinubu to work. In a tweet on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ahmad noted that members of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) should cooperate and let the reconciliation process work effectively.

This plea by Ahmad comes as President Tinubu has been working towards reconciling the leader of NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje. Multiple sources have confirmed that the president has communicated his intention to both men separately and has given them time to inform their stakeholders about his intention to reconcile and return at a later date to finalize the reconciliation process.

Ahmad emphasized the need for the reconciliation process, stating that it is crucial for two significant reasons. First, he mentioned the need for the development of Kano state, and second, he noted the importance of maintaining unity among the people of the state. He urged the politicians in Kano to guide their utterances and let the reconciliation process work, emphasizing the critical nature of the two reasons for achieving state development without obstacles and preserving unity among the people.

This is in line with the ongoing developments in Kano, as reported by Legit.ng, where Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, responded to an invitation from the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, urging him and others to join the party. The governor expressed his contentment in the NNPP and maintained that he has no plans of leaving the party.

The call by Ahmad reflects the need for a collaborative effort from the politicians in Kano to prioritize the larger interests of the state over personal agendas in order for the reconciliation process to be successful.
