Veritas University, Abuja, has made Nigeria proud by emerging as the top winner in the African Telecommunication Union Innovation Challenge that took place in Nairobi, Kenya. The Federal Government has commended the university for this remarkable achievement. In a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, praised the team from the university for bringing honor to the country through their outstanding performance in the competition.

The Innovation Challenge, which was organized by the African Telecommunication Union and sponsored by Intel, Huawei, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and the GSMA, saw Veritas University’s “Software Engineering Lab” clinch the top position with its innovative initiative focusing on providing hands-on learning experiences for young innovators. This initiative aims to inspire young tech enthusiasts to develop software-driven solutions that address community challenges and promote sustainability.

Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Ben Agande, highlighted the remarkable feat achieved by Veritas University in the competition. The university’s success in the Innovation Challenge has been recognized as a groundbreaking achievement not only for the institution but also for Nigeria as a whole. The Minister’s letter expressed delight in extending congratulations to Veritas University for emerging as the winner of the 3rd edition of the innovation challenge.

The letter, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, emphasized the significance of Veritas University’s victory in Africa as a remarkable achievement that brings honor to the country. It stated that the entire management and staff of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy are pleased to congratulate the university for this prestigious accomplishment.

The award, which was received by a representative of the Nigerian High Commissioner to Kenya and officials from the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy on behalf of Veritas University, will be formally presented to the Vice Chancellor of the university on Friday, 15th March by the Honourable Minister. The recognition and praise from the Federal Government serve as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of the team from Veritas University.
