The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has taken a significant step in enhancing transportation services for residents of the FCT by inaugurating a private sector mass transit operation. This initiative, known as the “TFA 360 Transportation System,” aims to provide affordable and reliable transportation options for the people of Abuja.

During the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, Ubokutom Nyah, the Mandate Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat, FCTA, highlighted the importance of private sector investment in public transportation. He emphasized that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is committed to fostering partnerships with private investors to ensure the provision of safe and secure mass transit services in the territory.

The introduction of high-capacity, fully air-conditioned buses under the TFA 360 Transportation System is a significant development in the effort to combat criminal activities such as robbery through the one-chance syndicate in Abuja. Nyah also mentioned that several other private sector investors are expected to join in providing alternative transportation solutions that are both reliable and affordable for FCT residents.

The journey towards the establishment of the TFA 360 Transportation System began months ago when the company applied for an operator license from the Transportation Secretariat. Nyah expressed satisfaction in seeing the outcomes of the FCTA’s efforts to encourage private sector participation in the transportation sector.

In addition to the TFA 360 Transportation System, another company named Capital Luxury is set to introduce brand new SUV and sedan vehicles to enhance transportation options in the territory. This collaborative effort between public and private entities demonstrates a shared commitment to providing residents with secure and affordable means of transportation.

Dr. Yakubu Terry, the Managing Director of TFA 360, described the initiative as a transformative journey that will reshape urban mobility in Abuja. He emphasized the vision of building a connected, sustainable, and efficient transportation system that will promote growth and unity among the city’s residents.

Terry also highlighted the use of technology to optimize operations and improve the commuter experience. The TFA 360 Transportation System will implement a digital payment system and provide amenities such as air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi onboard all vehicles to ensure convenience and comfort for passengers.

The inauguration of 14 buses marks the beginning of this initiative, with plans for additional buses to be added to the fleet in the near future. The TFA 360 Transportation System represents a significant step forward in meeting the transportation needs of FCT residents and creating a more integrated and efficient urban mobility system.

This collaborative effort between the public and private sectors sets a strong foundation for sustainable and inclusive transportation services in the Federal Capital Territory.
