The administrative setting of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) witnessed a significant change as Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, announced the appointment of Chidi Amadi as his chief of staff on Friday, March 15. This move marks a strategic decision by Wike to enhance the overall performance and productivity of the FCT Administration.
Chidi Amadi, the newly appointed chief of staff, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He previously served as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. With a background in public service and critical political roles, Amadi is well-equipped to support the FCT Minister in formulating and executing policies and programs that advance the development agenda of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a statement released by Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press at the Office of the Minister, Amadi is scheduled to take the oath of office on Monday, March 18. In his new capacity, he will provide strategic guidance and ensure the smooth functioning of the Minister’s office, playing a pivotal role in driving the development initiatives of the FCT.
Meanwhile, the Abuja chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Wike for what they perceive as lopsided appointments and neglect of party members in the FCT. APC leaders in Abuja expressed discontent over Wike’s decision to appoint non-party members to key positions within the FCT civil service commission and other critical agencies. This move has raised concerns about the exclusion of APC members from key roles in the FCT Administration.
In a similar development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the appointment of Felix Amaechi Obuah as the AMMC coordinator, with two other nominees appointed to head agencies under the Federal Capital Territory Administration. Obuah, the former chairperson of the PDP in Rivers state, received the endorsement of Tinubu for this key role, highlighting the political dynamics at play in the FCT.
As these appointments and restructuring efforts unfold in the FCT, the political landscape continues to evolve, with different stakeholders expressing varying perspectives on the direction of governance in the region. The appointment of Chidi Amadi as chief of staff represents a strategic move by Minister Wike to strengthen the administrative structure of the FCT and drive development initiatives that benefit residents and stakeholders in the territory.
Overall, the appointment of Chidi Amadi and other key officials underscores the importance of political dynamics in shaping governance and decision-making processes in the FCT. As stakeholders navigate these changes, the focus remains on advancing the development agenda of the Federal Capital Territory and ensuring effective and transparent leadership in the region.
