The South West leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, recently spoke out about the new logo of the party, declaring that it was designed specifically to align with the political movement of Kwankwasiya and the people of Kano State. Olopoeyan criticized the decision to change the logo of the party, stating that 2023 presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso and the National Executive NEC and NWC did not consult with leaders and stakeholders of the party across the state before making the change. He emphasized that a majority of the party leaders were not involved in the decision-making process regarding the new logo.
Speaking to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Olopoeyan expressed his dissatisfaction with Kwankwaso’s handling of the party, accusing him of trying to dominate decision-making within the NNPP. He criticized Kwankwaso for not recognizing the importance of including party leaders, stakeholders, and members in critical decisions that affect the party’s future. Olopoeyan highlighted the lack of consultation and sensitization before the new logo was adopted, suggesting that the former logo was more suitable compared to the newly chosen one.
In Oyo State, where local government elections are imminent, Olopoeyan explained that the sudden change in logo could significantly impact the party’s chances in the upcoming elections. He noted that party candidates had been working diligently at the grassroots level to prepare for the elections, but the new logo introduced by Kwankwaso and his allies presented a challenge as there was insufficient time for proper sensitization of party members and voters.
Olopoeyan raised concerns about the unilateral decision-making process that led to the adoption of the new logo, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and consultation within the party. He criticized Kwankwaso for appearing self-centered and urged him to consider the broader implications of his actions on the party’s unity and prospects in various states.
The significance of the red color in the new logo was also highlighted by Olopoeyan, pointing out its association with the Kwankwasiya Movement and Kwankwaso himself, whose political identity is closely linked to the color red. Olopoeyan underscored the need for cohesive decision-making processes within the party to ensure that all members have a voice in shaping its future direction.
Overall, Olopoeyan’s remarks shed light on the internal challenges facing the NNPP and the importance of transparent and consultative leadership to navigate complex political landscapes effectively. As the party prepares for future elections and strives to maintain its relevance, fostering unity and collaboration among its members will be crucial for its success.
