The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Engr Josiah Wukari Wasa, who is contesting in the upcoming 2023 election in Taraba State, has expressed his concerns regarding the governance policies of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba. According to him, the current policies being implemented by the PDP-led government are detrimental to the state’s progress and are leading to its decline.

Wasa criticized the PDP for its unpopular and self-serving policies, which he believes are causing Taraba State to deteriorate both economically and socially. He lamented the lack of defined policy direction and poor leadership that the state has experienced under the PDP’s governance since 1999. He specifically pointed fingers at Governor Agbu Kefas, accusing his administration of pushing the state towards a dangerous precipice.

In a press statement, Engr Josiah Wukari Wasa stated, “PDP is insidiously and steadily destroying our state. For close to two decades now, the party had its knee on the neck of Taraba State, choking its nasal system and not allowing it to breathe. It has been a case of unfortunate succession from one bad PDP governor to another.” He expressed disappointment in Governor Kefas for not living up to the expectations set by his young age and military background, which is associated with discipline.

Wasa highlighted the division along ethnic and religious lines that has emerged in Taraba State under the PDP’s governance, attributing it to the self-serving policies that have eroded unity and tolerance among the people. He criticized the state of public schools in Taraba, noting the overcrowding, lack of facilities, compromised standards, and low morale among teaching staff. Despite the government’s promotion of free education, the reality in schools remains grim with students crammed into inadequate spaces without basic necessities like uniforms and furniture.

The candidate emphasized the importance of good governance, development, and the protection of life and property, which he believes have been neglected under the current administration. He criticized the government’s focus on superficial declarations and committee inaugurations while the people of Taraba continue to suffer in poverty without tangible signs of progress.

Despite the challenges facing the state, Engr Josiah Wukari Wasa urged the people of Taraba to remain law-abiding in the face of adversity. He called for unity and resilience in the pursuit of a better future for the state, emphasizing the need for a change in leadership to steer Taraba towards growth and prosperity.
