The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Ali-Biu, emphasized that Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) are not caused by spiritual manipulations or evil spirits but rather by physical errors. Speaking at the Flag-off of the 2024 Sallah mega motor park rally in Abuja, Mr. Ali-Biu highlighted the importance of the rally due to the anticipated increase in vehicular and human movement during the festive period.

Represented by the FRSC Deputy Corps Marshal (DCM) in charge of operations, Shehu Zaki, Mr. Ali-Biu stated that the FRSC is dedicated to shifting the attitude of motorists in 2024. He emphasized that road crashes are not the result of spiritual forces but are instead due to human factors such as bad driving and impatience. Factors like drinking and driving, overloading of vehicles, worn-out tires, lane indiscipline, speeding, wrongful overtaking, among others, pose threats to the safety of individuals on the road.

Mr. Ali-Biu further noted that these bad driving behaviors not only endanger the lives of drivers and passengers but also harm road infrastructure, requiring significant resources to repair. In response to these challenges, the FRSC has taken proactive measures to educate motorists on road safety at Motor Parks. This outreach aims to engage union officials, who play a crucial role on the roads, and prepare for the increased deployment of personnel and logistics on highways to address traffic gridlocks and hazards.

As part of their efforts, the FRSC is committed to raising awareness about road safety to combat the prevalent causes of road crashes. They aim to instill a culture of responsible driving and reduce the incidence of accidents on the roads. The campaign also emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.

In conclusion, Mr. Ali-Biu reiterated that road crashes are preventable, and individuals must take responsibility for their actions while driving. By promoting safe driving practices and increasing public awareness, the FRSC aims to reduce the number of road crashes and create safer roads for everyone. It is essential for all motorists to prioritize road safety and play their part in preventing accidents on the roads.
