During my freshman year at Lagos State University in the academic year 2004/2005, I was excited to join the series of parties organized to help newcomers, known as JJC’s, bond with staylites, students who had been on campus for more than a year. However, these parties turned out to have a hidden agenda, serving as a breeding ground for seniors to prey on and take advantage of female newcomers like myself, leaving the male freshmen feeling left out. Despite being a victim of these predatory parties, I choose to focus on a more positive story to share.

Amidst the hype surrounding these parties, one name stood out among the rest – Dotun Kayode, the leader of the famous dance group “Xtreme Steppers” on campus. Although I was initially unfamiliar with him, the buzz around his performances sparked my interest. Rumors circulated about an upcoming showdown between him and another talented dancer, a fellow freshman named Nonso Asobe (Don Flexx), who is currently a choreographer for the popular Nigerian music duo, P-Square.

The anticipated face-off finally happened, and I was eager to see what made Dotun and his crew so special. Watching him dance was truly enlightening. In just one day, Dotun revealed his disciplined and tireless nature, his infectious happiness, and his genuine love for the art of entertainment. Every drop of sweat shed during his performances symbolized his dedication and passion for his craft.

Dotun’s talent and passion propelled him to fame as he starred in top-tier music videos and transitioned into becoming a television and radio personality. His charismatic hosting and entertaining skills solidified his reputation as a standout entertainer. With his boundless energy and magnetic presence, he quickly gained a dedicated fan base, earning him monikers like “Do2dtun” and “Energy Gad.”

However, Dotun’s journey to stardom goes beyond his dancing skills. Behind the scenes, his story is one of resilience, positivity, and unwavering dedication to his craft. Despite facing challenges, he chose to radiate positivity and maintain a buoyant spirit, inspiring those around him. The cost of generating such infinite energy is often overlooked, but Dotun manages to balance his mental, spiritual, and physical well-being to sustain his vibrant persona.

As a devoted father to two daughters, Dotun juggles his flourishing career with the responsibilities of parenthood, showcasing his commitment to being a present and supportive parent. His journey exemplifies that success is not just about talent or luck, but a combination of discipline, perseverance, and a relentless commitment to self-improvement. Dotun, aka Energy Gad, embodies the power of positivity and the limitless potential within each individual.

In a world that can sometimes feel dull, Dotun’s story serves as a beacon of light, showing us the importance of shining brightly and spreading positivity. Cheers to Energy Gad, for showcasing the essence of resilience and the boundless energy that resides within all of us. His journey is a testament to the power of positivity and the endless possibilities that come with unwavering determination.
