Claims have emerged that Delta state commissioner for youth development, Agbateyiniro Weyinmi, was found in possession of a sack containing guns. This claim was circulated by a verified Facebook user, Fejiro Oliver, who insinuated that Weyinmi is a killer and cult member. However, a fact-checking platform investigated the claim and shared its findings in a report published recently.
Weyinmi assumed office in August 2023 and is one of the most prominent cabinet members of the Sheriff Oborevwori administration in Delta state. The allegations against him were concerning, and due to the sensitive nature of the claim, a fact-checking platform called Dubawa decided to investigate the allegation.
In a post by Fejiro Oliver, he wrote, “Killers and cultists as Delta state government appointees.” This post garnered over 60 reactions, 103+ comments, and five shares by April 13, 2024. Weyinmi responded to these claims by debunking them and stating that he has filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) office. He also mentioned that Oliver has a history of spreading lies and blackmailing others.
Weyinmi assured that the case would be followed to a logical conclusion and that no stone would be left unturned until the matter is resolved. The fact-checking platform confirmed that there was no evidence to support the claim that Weyinmi was caught with guns as alleged.
