A Kano State High Court under the leadership of Justice Nasiru Saminu recently granted bail to Murja Kunya, a controversial TikToker, on Monday. The bail was set at N500,000 after Kunya requested release following a directive from the Kano Shari’ah Court ordering a mental evaluation by a psychiatric doctor.

Justice Saminu specified the conditions for the bail, which included two reliable sureties – one being a relative and the other an individual with landed property in Kano municipal area. Additionally, the judge prohibited Kunya from utilizing her social media accounts until the case reaches a final verdict.

The judge made it clear that any breach of the social media restriction would result in the Kano Commissioner of Police taking necessary actions to bring Kunya back to court. Furthermore, the defendants’ counsel, the Attorney General, representatives from the Hisbah Board, and the Commissioner of Police were mandated to be present for discussions on amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law to ensure proper adjudication.

The court set the next hearing for May 16, 2024, to continue with the legal proceedings. It is crucial for all involved parties to adhere to the court’s directives and to participate in the upcoming sessions to facilitate a fair and just resolution.

As the legal process unfolds, it is imperative for Kunya and her legal team to comply with the bail conditions and follow the court’s instructions closely. The involvement of various stakeholders in the case demonstrates the significance of addressing all aspects of the law to ensure a comprehensive and equitable judgment.

In conclusion, the bail granted to Murja Kunya marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal proceedings. With the court’s decision to release her on bail, accompanied by specific conditions and restrictions, the case is set to progress towards a resolution. It is essential for all parties involved to cooperate and engage constructively in the legal process to uphold justice and fairness in the proceedings. The upcoming hearing on May 16, 2024, presents an opportunity to further advance the case and reach a just outcome in accordance with the law.
