An Ikeja Special Offences Court granted bail to the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, in the sum of N50 million on Friday. Emefiele is facing charges of abuse of office and fraud amounting to 4.5 billion dollars and N2.8 billion. The sureties provided must be gainfully employed individuals who have three years of tax payment with the Lagos State Government. Additionally, they must show proper identification and be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System. The judge also expressed satisfaction with the bail conditions previously given to Emefiele’s co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil, who is facing a separate charge before Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat at the Yaba High Court.
