The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has issued a statement calling on the Nigerian government and security forces to remain vigilant until all students and vulnerable individuals held captive by terrorists are freed. The group also emphasized the need to protect communities that are vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
In a press release signed by the national coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu, the CNG expressed satisfaction with the release of schoolchildren who were kidnapped by bandits in Kuriga, Kaduna State. The group commended the efforts of all parties involved in ensuring the safe return of the abducted pupils.
The CNG stated, “The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, joins parents and other well-meaning Nigerians in welcoming the release of Kuriga primary school pupils. The CNG, therefore, renews its call on the government and security operatives to remain on their toes until all other students and vulnerable Nigerians being held captives by bandits are freed and communities prone to attacks are securely protected.”
The group also highlighted the recent surge in attacks in Katsina and Zamfara states, where terrorists have been causing havoc and destruction. They urged the governors of these states to intensify their efforts and collaborate closely with the Federal Government to address the escalating violence against innocent citizens.
Furthermore, the CNG urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and continue working towards ensuring the safety and security of residents in affected areas. The group emphasized the importance of a multidimensional approach to addressing insecurity, calling for collaborative efforts involving security forces, the public, and other critical stakeholders to eradicate the menace from communities.
The statement concluded with the CNG reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development in the region, as well as advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the most vulnerable members of society.
Overall, the CNG’s statement underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, protect vulnerable populations, and ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians in the face of escalating violence in certain regions. It calls for a united front among all stakeholders to address the challenges posed by insecurity and work towards a more peaceful and stable future for the country.
