Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has strongly refuted reports calling for the resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman. In a statement released by his chief press secretary (CPS), Tersoo Kula, the governor dismissed the claims as the handiwork of malicious individuals and clarified that he has a cordial relationship with the APC national chairman.

The statement issued on Wednesday, March 27, in Makurdi, the state capital, emphasized that Governor Alia never made any statements demanding Ganduje’s resignation. On the contrary, he expressed his full support for the leadership of Ganduje within the APC party. The governor’s focus remains on improving the state’s welfare and advancing the APC’s agenda in Benue state.

Addressing the media reports, the CPS reiterated that Governor Alia had not participated in any meetings or discussions aiming to remove or call for the resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The governor’s commitment lies in revitalizing the APC in Benue state and ensuring a successful future for the party.

In light of recent events, including the court’s ruling on the dollar bribery scandal involving Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor Alia’s stance on supporting the APC leadership remains unwavering. The Federal High Court in Kano declared that the state’s anti-corruption commission lacked jurisdiction to investigate Ganduje, labeling the allegations as a federal offense falling under the purview of the attorney-general of the federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Following the court’s verdict, the counsel to the anti-graft agency, Usman Fari, announced plans to challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal. The legal battle surrounding the bribery scandal underscores the complexities of governance and party politics in Nigeria.

As Governor Hyacinth Alia continues to lead Benue state with integrity and dedication, his support for the APC and its leadership exemplifies his commitment to advancing the party’s goals. Despite the challenges and controversies that may arise, the governor remains focused on promoting transparency, accountability, and progress in the state.

In conclusion, the call for Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation, which Governor Alia has firmly denied, reflects the dynamic landscape of Nigerian politics. As the governor navigates through these turbulent times, his steadfast leadership and loyalty to the APC underscore his determination to bolster the party’s influence and impact in Benue state.
