President Bola Tinubu has recently made new appointments to restructure the leadership team of the Almajiri commission and out-of-school children’s education. The appointment includes Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) as the new chairman of the Almajiri’s commission. Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) was previously appointed as the executive secretary and CEO before President Tinubu upgraded his position.

The new leadership team for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education was announced by President Bola Tinubu, with Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) as the new Chairman. Additionally, Tinubu appointed Dr. Idris Muhammad Sani as the new Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the commission.

Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) had initially been appointed as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Commission and was later elevated to Chairman in the recent appointment. The new appointees were urged by President Tinubu to utilize their skills and vast experiences in their new roles. The announcement was made in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, and shared by Fredrick Nwabufo, a media aide, in a tweet on Monday.

This development comes shortly after President Tinubu appointed George-Kelly Alabo as the chairman of the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA). Alabo, who was a commissioner for works under Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state, resigned a day after receiving President Tinubu’s appointment. He had previously resigned as a commissioner under Fubara amid the conflict between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a related report, Tunji-Ojo, who was invited for questioning by the Code of Conduct Bureau over the N438m contract scandal, requested another date for his appearance. The earlier report claiming that the minister had shunned the bureau’s invitation was contradicted by a leaked memo revealing that a firm linked to the minister was awarded the N438m contract for a consultancy fee by the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs, Betta Edu.

President Bola Tinubu continues to make strategic appointments to key positions, aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of various government agencies. The new leadership team for the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education is expected to bring about positive changes and improvements in addressing the challenges faced by Almajiris and out-of-school children in the country.
