The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has landed in Kano to hold a meeting with top party leaders and stakeholders in the state. Ganduje arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Wednesday evening, January 24, accompanied by senior party members such as Abdullahi Abbas, the state chairman of the party, and Murtala Sule Garo, the party’s deputy governorship candidate in the Kano state election in 2023.
Ganduje’s meeting with key APC stakeholders in Kano is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 25, at the party’s state secretariat. The purpose of this meeting is to address reconciliation efforts with various political stakeholders, including opposition members who may be interested in returning to the APC, particularly the loyalists of Ganduje’s political rival, Rabiu Kwankwaso. This meeting comes in the wake of speculation about potential reconciliation between Ganduje and Kwankwaso.
Clips showing Ganduje’s arrival at the airport were posted on social media by the APC, United Kingdom (UK) chapter and a party chieftain, Imran Muhammad. According to Dawisu, a former media adviser to Ganduje, this visit marks the APC leader’s first official visit to the state since leaving office back in May 2013.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu urged Ganduje to mend relations with Senator Kwankwaso and others who are willing to align with the APC. This plea was made during a meeting with Kano APC stakeholders shortly after the Supreme Court affirmed Abba Yusuf as the bonafide governor of Kano state.
Ganduje’s arrival in Kano and his upcoming meeting with key stakeholders comes amidst high anticipation, as it is expected to shed light on the potential for reconciliation and political realignment within the APC in the state. Overall, these developments mark a significant moment in the political landscape of Kano state.
