The Borno government has recently signed a N7.9 billion contract with Eighteen Engineering Company (EEC), a Chinese construction giant, for the construction of a third flyover at the West-End Roundabout in Maiduguri metropolis. This project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the movement of vehicles within the city.

Mustapha Gubio, the Commissioner for Works, made this announcement during the contract signing ceremony held in Maiduguri. He highlighted that this would be the third flyover to be constructed under Governor Babagana Zulum’s administration. The selection of EEC for the project was based on the company’s proven track record of adhering to due process and delivering quality construction projects.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of the contractors adhering to the specified standards and completing the project within the stipulated 12-month period. The state government has already paid 40% of the mobilization fee to the contractor, with an additional 10% to be paid soon. Gubio urged the contractor to reciprocate this gesture by delivering a high-quality job.

The government’s focus on infrastructure development is part of a larger 25-year developmental plan for the state, which includes the construction of roads, drains, and other essential projects. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and support the overall growth and development of Borno State.

Gao Kun, the representative of EEC, expressed their commitment to fulfilling the project requirements and delivering the flyover according to the specified standards. The company is determined to justify the confidence placed in them by the state government and ensure the successful completion of the project.

Overall, the construction of the third flyover in Maiduguri marks another significant step towards improving the city’s infrastructure and enhancing transportation efficiency. The collaboration between the Borno government and EEC is expected to result in the timely completion of the project and the successful alleviation of traffic congestion in the area.

In conclusion, the construction of the third flyover in Maiduguri represents a strategic investment in the development of the city’s infrastructure. The project’s successful completion will not only improve traffic flow but also contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of Maiduguri metropolis.
