Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have once again targeted power transmission towers in Yobe state, causing a significant disruption in electricity supply to residents of Borno and Yobe. The police command in Yobe confirmed that two 330 KVA power transmission towers were destroyed in the attack. Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the command, revealed that the transmission towers, located in Kasaisa in Damaturu Local Government Area, supplied electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno.
The attackers are believed to have used improvised explosive devices to carry out the destruction, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday. This act of sabotage has left residents of the two states in darkness and has once again highlighted the security challenges faced by the region.
