The All Progressive Congress in Benue State recently made headlines by endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office in 2027. This endorsement came as a unanimous decision during a stakeholders meeting held in Makurdi. The party also expressed their confidence in other key figures such as the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shetima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Gadunje.
The meeting was well-attended by prominent elders and leaders of the party from the three senatorial districts of the state. This included present and past national assembly members, state assembly members, as well as local government and ward executives. Senator Tilley Gyado, the leader of the party stakeholders, highlighted the positive impact of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, stating that it will lead the nation towards a new era of prosperity, unity, and development.
Gyado praised President Tinubu for his efforts in restoring the country’s economy and mentioned the various interventions that have benefited Benue State. These interventions include post-subsidy removal funds, infrastructure development projects, and sub-national intervention funds which collectively totaled N44 billion. He emphasized the president’s commitment to sustainable solutions, such as the installation of solar power in major towns, which has improved safety and created a more welcoming atmosphere for citizens.
The stakeholders also commended President Tinubu for the allocation of substantial funds to Benue State, which is expected to alleviate the suffering of the people and foster economic growth. They highlighted developmental initiatives like the commencement of the Makurdi/Enugu road project, including the construction of a flyover at Wurukum in Makurdi, as significant milestones. The appointment of Senator George Akume, a leader of APC in Benue State, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation was also mentioned as a testament to the president’s commitment to inclusive governance.
In a show of solidarity, the Benue APC passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma, SGF Senator George Akume, and the national chairman of APC, Abdullahi Gadunje. They proudly endorsed and urged President Tinubu to run for the presidency in 2027, expressing their belief that his leadership will bring about positive change and development for the nation.
