Francis Okoye, the convener of APC South-East Coalition, has spoken on the potential benefits for Kano State and its people if Governor Abba Yusuf decides to join the ruling party. Okoye emphasized that it would be in the best interest of the people of Kano state if Governor Yusuf dumps the NNPP and rejoins the APC. According to him, Yusuf collaborating with the APC’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, would bring dividends of democracy to the state.
During an exclusive chat with Legit.ng journalist Adekunle Dada, Okoye stated that Kano state and its people stand to gain significantly if Governor Yusuf joins the APC. He affirmed that the affiliation of Governor Yusuf with Ganduje, a former governor, would be beneficial for the state in terms of development and progress.
Elaborating further, Okoye made it clear that Kano state occupies a critical position in Nigerian politics and should not be ruled by NNPP, a party that has limited visibility in the state. He urged the people of Kano state to encourage the governor to rejoin APC and work together in collaboration with Ganduje to bring dividends of democracy to the table.
Responding to the purported reconciliation between Ganduje and NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Okoye expressed skepticism about a successful collaboration between the two due to their opposing stances on political issues. He asserted that the decision for Kano state to return to the APC lies solely with Governor Yusuf and not Kwankwaso.
In a separate development, Governor Yusuf responded to an invitation from Ganduje, urging him to join the APC. Through his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf noted that Ganduje did not follow the proper procedure when extending the invitation during a recent APC stakeholders’ meeting in Kano.
Overall, Okoye’s remarks underscore the potential gains for Kano state if Governor Yusuf decides to join the APC, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the governor and Ganduje for the overall benefit of the state and its people.
