The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has strongly criticized the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, for his plans to take over Anambra state from the party. APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, asserted that there is no doubt that Anambra belongs to APGA, emphasizing that the state and the entire South East region are firmly under the party’s control.

In response to Ganduje’s claim that Anambra is not progressing as expected, Opara pointed out that the APC is practically nonexistent in Anambra. He stated that the state would prefer to remain disconnected from the APC-controlled central government. Opara questioned the progress made by Kano state under Ganduje’s leadership, highlighting the historic rejection of the APC by the people in 2023 in favor of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

He emphasized that the APC should drop the idea of taking over Anambra, as the state and the South East region are considered APGA territory. Opara highlighted Governor Charles Soludo’s administration in Anambra, praising the state for its accomplishments in various areas such as ICT deployment and low rates of out-of-school children. He expressed that if these achievements are the criteria for disconnection from the central government, then Anambra is willing to remain independent.

Ganduje’s statement about the APC taking over power from APGA in Anambra was also addressed. The former Kano governor alleged that APGA’s lack of growth was hindering the progress of the state. He further claimed that former governors quickly abandoned the party after their tenures, suggesting a lack of confidence in APGA’s ability to lead.

APGA’s firm stance on Anambra and the South East being its stronghold reflects the party’s commitment to maintaining its grip on power in the region. Despite challenges and opposing views, APGA remains resolute in defending its position and achievements in Anambra state. The ongoing clash between APGA and the APC underscores the political dynamics at play in the state and the region as a whole.

Overall, APGA’s response to Ganduje’s plans signals a fierce determination to protect its territory and uphold its values in the face of perceived threats. The political landscape in Anambra remains contentious, with both parties vying for control and influence. As the situation unfolds, the people of Anambra will ultimately decide the direction the state takes in the upcoming political arena.
