The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Ibadan, has continued its attack against Governor Seyi Makinde’s government, accusing him of a monumental fraud in the partial execution of the Ibadan Circular Road Project. The party, through its spokesperson Olawale Sadare, raised serious allegations regarding the state’s funds and the way they were purportedly misused in the project.
In a statement issued to Legit.ng, the Oyo APC expressed concerns about the alleged corruption within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. The party warned that if the issue of unabated corruption is not addressed, it could lead to irredeemable doom for the state in the near future.
The controversy surrounding the Ibadan Circular Road Project escalated when Governor Makinde claimed during a commissioning ceremony at Badeku Junction that it was the largest investment in Oyo state in 50 years, costing a whopping N300 billion. The special guest of honor at the event, Anambra state governor, Professor Charles Soludo, added to the significance of the occasion.
However, the Oyo APC questioned the rationale behind Governor Makinde redesigning the road project to occupy 425 meters and accused him of indiscriminately demolishing properties of poor citizens to serve his interests and those of his cronies. The party called for transparency and judicious use of the state’s funds, urging Governor Makinde to put an end to the misappropriation of scarce resources.
In another development, APC chieftain Olawale Sadare provided insights into how President Tinubu could address the subsidy removal issue and prevent a planned strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress. Sadare outlined five steps that Tinubu could take to fix the economy and meet the demands of the labor unions, suggesting that implementing these measures could revive the economy and bring smiles to Nigerians.
Overall, the APC in Oyo state, Ibadan, remains vocal in its criticisms of Governor Seyi Makinde’s government, raising concerns about alleged corruption and mismanagement of state funds. The party continues to call for accountability and transparency in governance, emphasizing the need for elected officials to prioritize the welfare and well-being of the people they serve. As the political landscape in Oyo state evolves, the relationship between the APC and the ruling PDP under Governor Makinde’s leadership will continue to be closely monitored.
