The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared that the neutrality of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies were key factors that ensured the party’s victory in the rerun election that took place on Saturday.
The rerun election saw the APC candidate, Ibrahim Shittu, emerge as the winner of the Saki West state constituency. In response to this victory, the Publicity Secretary of the party in Oyo State, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, issued a statement on Sunday, commending INEC and the security agencies for their impartiality.
Sadare emphasized that the victory of the APC candidate is a clear indication that Nigerians still have faith in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He attributed the successful outcome of the election to the commitment of INEC personnel and the bravery of the officers and men from various security agencies.
According to Sadare, the determination of these individuals thwarted attempts to compromise the electoral process through vote-buying and the deployment of thugs to influence the outcome of the election. He indicated that the opposition party, PDP, had allegedly resorted to tactics such as offering cash incentives ranging from N20,000 to N30,000 to voters in the affected polling units. However, the security forces prevented these attempts to coerce voters as they cast their ballots.
The statement from the APC also expressed gratitude to the people of Saki for exhibiting unwavering support for the party and its candidates. It promised that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Abdufatai Buhari, Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Kareem, and Hon. Ibrahim Shittu, who were all elected on the platform of the APC, will continue to uphold the trust placed in them by the electorate.
Overall, the party reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the challenges facing the country and assured the citizens that the issues would be rectified expeditiously for the betterment of the nation.
The statement serves as a testament to the APC’s confidence in its ability to govern and represents a message of reassurance to the people, emphasizing the party’s dedication to delivering on its promises.
By acknowledging the efforts of INEC and the security agencies in upholding the integrity of the electoral process, the APC’s statement underscores the importance of impartiality and fair conduct in elections. With the rerun election results in Oyo State, the party aims to instill confidence in the public regarding the sincerity of its commitment to good governance and the well-being of the Nigerian people.
In conclusion, the victory of the APC candidate in the rerun election is seen as a validation of the support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration and a demonstration of the party’s determination to uphold democratic principles. The statement issued by the Oyo State chapter of the APC reflects the party’s appreciation for the electorate’s loyalty and its resolute dedication to fulfilling its obligations to the citizens.
