The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recently made accusations against Governor Sim Fubara, claiming that he has disrespected President Bola Tinubu amid his ongoing dispute with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The APC’s Caretaker committee Chairman in the state, Tony Okocha, voiced these concerns at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt while addressing defectors joining the party. Okocha specifically stated that Fubara has not fulfilled all the proclamations made by Tinubu at the peace deal with Wike.
According to Okocha, it would be considered barefaced disobedience if Governor Fubara fails to adhere strictly to all eight indices in the proclamation made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in response to the political crisis in Rivers State.
He highlighted the governor’s continued refusal to present the Rivers State 2024 budget to a properly constituted Rivers State House of Assembly under Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker, as captured in index 6.
Additionally, Okocha condemned the governor’s flagrant reluctance to conduct Local Government Elections, as outlined in index 8, which he believes shows disrespect for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Furthermore, Okocha made it clear that the APC Rivers, as the party of the President, staunchly condemns Fubara’s alleged act of disobedience and warns against the potential negative consequences that may arise as a result.
The accusations made by the APC against Governor Fubara stem from a larger political rift between the governor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. This ongoing conflict has garnered attention and concern, particularly as it pertains to the overall stability and governance of Rivers State.
The accusations made by the APC highlight the significance of adhering to the proclamations and agreements made by President Bola Tinubu in response to the political crisis in Rivers State. It also emphasizes the importance of respect for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the need for proper governance and adherence to constitutional processes.
It is evident that the allegations made by the APC have added fuel to the already intense political climate in Rivers State. The implications of these accusations and the ongoing rift between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike are expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of the state.
As the situation continues to unfold, it is essential for all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy in order to address the underlying issues and work towards a peaceful resolution.
The accusations made by the APC serve as a reminder of the complex and interconnected nature of Nigerian politics, and the importance of upholding democratic principles and processes.
