The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has expressed its willingness to invite Rev Timothy Daluk, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Manga local government area of Plateau state. This decision came after Daluk made allegations against the military, accusing them of coordinating the killings of Christians and destruction of property in the LG. In response, the DHQ has stated that they will be meeting with Rev Timothy Daluk to provide him with the opportunity to substantiate his claims.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the acting director of defence information, made a statement confirming the impending meeting between the DHQ and the Christian leader. The purpose of this meeting is to address the comments made by Daluk against the military.

Rev Timothy Daluk had previously alleged that the Nigerian military was involved in supervising the killings of Christians and the destruction of properties in Plateau. In a video, he claimed that the military had sent all the Christians out of the new market and allowed the Muslims to come around and burn their houses. These allegations have prompted the DHQ to take action and invite Daluk to substantiate them.

The military has made it clear that it remains neutral in securing Plateau and Nigeria at large. They emphasized their commitment to defending the country and expressed their willingness to engage with Daluk in order to address the situation. The DHQ’s response to the situation acknowledged the emotional nature of such traumatising experiences and highlighted the need for a thorough investigation to address the allegations.

The upcoming meeting between the DHQ and Rev Timothy Daluk will provide an opportunity for both parties to address the allegations made against the military. It is a crucial step towards ascertaining the truth and addressing the concerns raised by the CAN chairman in Plateau state.
