Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has denied the rumoured interest in vying for the position of governor in Ekiti state. His media aide, Segun Tomori, dismissed the campaign posters on social media as fraudulent.

In a public statement, Alake vehemently denied his involvement in the circulation of posters that suggest his interest in becoming the governor of Ekiti State. He clarified that he is not interested in running for the governorship election in Ekiti State, both presently and in the future. He emphasized his dedication to his current role as a minister, committed to the task assigned to him by President Bola Tinubu, and expressed his support for the ongoing administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti.

Alake, who once served as a commissioner in Lagos state under President Bola Tinubu, denounced the circulating posters as fake and unapproved by him. He reiterated his commitment to reforming and revamping the Solid Minerals sector in Nigeria, aiming to make it a major revenue earner for the country and create thousands of high-paying jobs for Nigerians.

The minister’s media aide also highlighted Alake’s concerns about illegal mining activities and the hazards of his job. Alake had received threats from high-profile individuals whom he exposed for being linked with illegal mining. He also spoke on the tragic explosion in Ibadan, stating that investigations are ongoing to get to the root cause of the explosion and hold the culprits accountable.

It is evident that Alake’s priority lies in his national assignment as a minister and his commitment to the Solid Minerals sector, rather than any political ambitions in Ekiti State. Therefore, the campaign posters suggesting his interest in the governorship position should be disregarded, as clarified by Alake himself.
