The northern senatorial district of Ondo state has given their approval for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to run for the governorship in the upcoming November 2024 elections. Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district have also encouraged the governor to officially declare his ambition for the position.
The party supporters gathered in Oka Akoko to express their endorsement of Aiyedatiwa’s aspirations, believing that he is the right candidate to continue the developmental projects initiated by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Hon. Gbenga Omole, a former lawmaker and Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented the leaders in conveying their support and endorsement for the governor. Omole affirmed that the majority’s desires in the district and the state are reflected in the endorsement of the governor.
He commended Aiyedatiwa for his achievement, especially in maintaining peace and stability within the party and the state, despite having only recently been sworn into office. He encouraged the governor to continue working diligently and assured him of the people’s backing in securing the party’s ticket for the upcoming election.
Omole emphasized that the Aiyedatiwa government has been swift in addressing the desires and hopes of the state’s residents since taking office. He hailed Aiyedatiwa and his team for their commitment to providing quality governance and never letting down the citizens.
The local community was also urged to support Aiyedatiwa, with assurances that the governor will actively promote development and ensure the widespread benefits of democracy throughout the state.
In addition to the endorsement, the leaders urged Aiyedatiwa to declare his interest in the 2024 gubernatorial election, citing his loyalty and collaboration with the late Governor Akeredolu in managing state affairs.
Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa recently sworn in his cabinet members and approved the re-appointment of some members. The cabinet members include both returning faces and new appointees, marking the governor’s commitment to good governance and leadership.
The leaders in the northern district also cautioned party members to remain vigilant against saboteurs and deceptive elements as the state approaches elections. They emphasized Aiyedatiwa’s achievements in areas such as timely salary payments, pensioner gratuities, road construction, environmental improvements, and interventions in education.
