President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to address the corruption within the palliative system, designed to alleviate economic challenges during the nation’s efforts to overcome these difficulties. Chief Ralph Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made this call in Abuja, criticizing the government’s approach to using palliative governance as a development tool, which he described as evil and in need of immediate cessation.

Nwosu expressed concern over the state of the nation’s affairs, highlighting President Tinubu’s long-standing presence in politics and questioning how the country could be facing such dire circumstances under his leadership. He suggested redirecting the resources allocated for purchasing palliatives towards equipping the military to address insecurity and encouraging agricultural activities to ensure food self-sufficiency.

The utilization of funds for palliatives, according to Nwosu, is wasteful and unsustainable given the country’s large population and the imperative of promoting self-reliance. He emphasized that during President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s tenure, the palliative system should not be considered an acceptable governance strategy, as it is detrimental and degrading.

Furthermore, Nwosu condemned the practice of empowering legislators and governors to distribute palliatives in their constituencies, arguing that it perpetuates a culture of dependency and undermines the work ethics of the population. He stressed the need to empower individuals with marketable skills instead of relying on palliatives for sustainable development.

Nwosu called on governors to release their hold on state resources and focus on empowering people with skills to contribute to the nation’s growth. He criticized the government’s reliance on a refugee camp-style food distribution system as disgraceful and a breeding ground for corruption and frustration.

He also challenged the notion that the military could be blamed for the nation’s developmental setbacks, emphasizing the need for proactive actions to restructure the political landscape and promote nation-building initiatives. Nwosu emphasized the importance of transformational leadership and the need for a new beginning to move the country forward.

In conclusion, Nwosu highlighted the collaboration of twenty-two political party leaders with the ADC in their efforts to work towards a better Nigeria. He underscored the importance of leaving behind blame games and focusing on constructive actions to bring about positive change in the country.

Overall, the call for President Tinubu to address corruption within the palliative system and prioritize sustainable development reflects a commitment to fostering a better future for Nigeria through responsible governance and effective leadership.
