The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Plateau State is facing a fresh internal crisis over plans to hold a substitution primary on Tuesday, September 15, to replace its governorship candidate, Da Jonathan Sunday Akuns, who emerged unopposed at the party’s May 29, 2026 primary.
Shortly after the primary, Akuns was suspended by the state leadership of the party, led by its chairman, Solomon Ndam, and the National Vice Chairman, North Central, Barnabas Ejisi.
