SoundCloud, led by CEO Eliah Seton, is a platform focused on empowering artists, with over 40 million artists and a catalogue of more than 320 million tracks. The platform has announced new integrations with digital audio workstations, reflecting its commitment to supporting artists with easy access to tools that promote innovation and creativity.
The new integrations include Fadr, Soundful AI, and Voice-Swap, which enable users to create mashups, generate studio-quality music, and transform vocal stems using generative AI. Seton emphasized the importance of AI in serving and empowering artists, highlighting the technology as a means to open up new creative avenues and make artists’ lives easier.
These integrations are expected to roll out soon, allowing artists to easily share their newly created songs to SoundCloud through a ‘Upload to SoundCloud’ option within each individual tool. The songs uploaded will be tagged to indicate which tool was used, and artists will be able to edit their tracks directly from their SoundCloud profile page.
In addition to these new integrations, SoundCloud is also implementing new methods to prevent AI abuse and protect its artists. This includes blocking AI bots from crawling its site and training models on its catalogue. The platform has also introduced updates such as the Fans tool for artists, direct messages on mobile, a new Comments tool, and a global licensing deal with Merlin.
Furthermore, reports have emerged that SoundCloud is being prepared for sale by its owners, Raine Group and Temasek Holdings, with a potential valuation of $1 billion. The change in ownership is anticipated by the end of 2024, with the owners in talks with investment banks to explore the possibility of auctioning the company.
Ultimately, SoundCloud’s new integrations and updates, as well as the potential change in ownership, demonstrate the platform’s ongoing commitment to supporting artists and driving innovation in the music industry.
