Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has expressed the agency’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate of transforming Nigeria’s technology and innovation landscape. The assurance was given during the opening ceremony of a two-day staff training organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) for the mandatory deployment of Self-Assessment Tools (SAT) for service delivery in Abuja.

Halilu reaffirmed NASENI’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate by maintaining a steadfast focus on NASENI 3Cs principles of Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization. He emphasized the importance of harnessing the power of technology, human skills, and talents to deliver remarkable benefits to Nigeria on multiple fronts.

Halilu stressed the significance of conducting a thorough assessment of the agency’s performances in line with best practices. He highlighted the importance of the SAT, stating that it would enable organizations to evaluate themselves comprehensively, gaining insights into how effectively they are meeting their goals. He encouraged all participants to give their undivided attention and make the most use of the opportunity for self-assessment and growth.

The implementation of SAT is expected to provide significant advantages for NASENI. It will help the agency identify its strengths and areas for improvement, enhance professional practices, encourage partnerships with esteemed organizations, and create opportunities to celebrate growth, developmental achievements, and skill acquisition, among other benefits.

The Director-General of BPSR, Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, emphasized the importance of the SAT for planning, accountability, and management of public funds. He noted that the tool is crucial for monitoring and evaluating reforms in Ministries, Agencies, and Departments (MDAs) of the Federal Government for effective service delivery. Arabi highlighted the role of SAT in ensuring that the system is corrupt-free, especially in financial transactions.

Arabi called on NASENI as a Government Agency to embrace SAT in all its dealings and ensure that they own their work to deliver effectively. He emphasized the necessity for NASENI to align with the mandates and directives of the Federal Government and integrate SAT into its operations.

The training session organized by BPSR is part of the effort to enhance service delivery and promote a culture of self-assessment and improvement within government agencies. The commitment of NASENI to adopt the SAT and undergo rigorous self-evaluation demonstrates its dedication to achieving its mandate and contributing to the advancement of technology and innovation in Nigeria.
