The Windhoek fire brigade on Sunday confirmed an active veld fire on the outskirts of Ludwigsdorf as well as another heading towards Heja Lodge east of the city and Elisenheim to the north.
The head of the Windhoek fire department, Raymond Kapia, confirmed that there were 11 firefighters at the scenes in the afternoon.
The fire brigade also called on off-duty firefighters to be on standby.
