Several areas in the Oshana and Ohangwena regions are scheduled to experience power disruptions over the weekend as the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (Nored) will be conducting essential maintenance and repairs. The outages are expected to take place between 07h00 and 19h00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Residents of towns, villages, and settlements in these regions are advised to prepare for the outages and to treat all electrical points as live, as power will be restored without prior notification. Nored spokesperson, Lukas Simon, stated in a press release that a power outage will occur from 08h00 to 10h00 on Saturday, affecting several villages and settlements in the Ondangwa Rural and Uukwiyuushona constituencies. This outage is necessary for Nored to install a new overhead line.

On Sunday, the entire Ongwediva and surrounding areas will experience a power outage from 07h30 to 16h30 as Nored and NamPower conduct maintenance work. Nored will also be focusing on maintenance of power lines during this time. Additionally, parts of Helao Nafidi in the Ohangwena region and surrounding villages will be affected by a power outage from 07h30 to 16h30 on Sunday. This outage will allow Nored to address issues such as cutting overgrown trees, fixing a skew pole, tensioning a power line near a taxi rank, relocating fuse links, and replacing a rotten pole in a graveyard with two strain intermediate poles.

It is important for residents to be aware of these scheduled power outages and to make alternative arrangements if necessary to mitigate any inconveniences. Nored is working diligently to ensure that the maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently to minimize any disruptions to the electricity supply. Residents are also reminded to exercise caution around electrical points during the outages and to follow safety guidelines provided by Nored.
