President Nangolo Mbumba has declared 1 March as a public holiday in honour of founding president Sam Nujoma who will be buried on the same day.

This is contained in a government gazette published on Friday.

“I declare Saturday 1 March 2025 a public holiday for the purpose of the burial ceremony of the first president of Namibia and founding father of the nation Sam Nujoma,” reads the notice.

Friday, 28 February, will remain a regular working day.
