The International University of Management (IUM) has experienced a significant increase in student enrollment for the 2024 academic year, with over 19,100 students being enrolled. This marks a 21% increase compared to the previous year, showcasing the university’s growth and appeal to students.

The announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor of IUM, Osmund Mwandemele, during the official opening of the academic year. He highlighted the university’s commitment to providing quality education and contributing to national goals and objectives. Under the leadership of founder David Namwandi, IUM has expanded its programs and student numbers, offering master’s, post-graduate, and graduate courses to meet the national need for higher-level human resources.

In 2023, 85,143 candidates wrote the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary (NSSCO) and Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS) examinations. Out of the 40,682 pupils who sat for the exams, 10,261 candidates have progressed to Grade 12 or continued their education at the tertiary level with their NSSCO results. This demonstrates the university’s role in preparing students for further academic pursuits and professional success.

Student representative council president Loide Nghuulondo commended IUM for providing affordable quality education by keeping registration fees consistent at N$2,000. This has created opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access higher education and pursue their academic goals. Nghuulondo emphasized the importance of unity among students to uphold the legacy of IUM and work towards a common goal of knowledge acquisition.

Addressing the audience, David Namwandi urged Namibians to appreciate the peaceful political climate in the country, contrasting it with ongoing conflicts in other parts of the world. He highlighted the importance of civil discourse and peaceful coexistence among citizens, noting that political differences should not escalate into violent conflicts as seen in other regions.
