Police spokesperson Elifas Kuwinga provided details of the incident, stating that it took place around 16h30, approximately 67km from Otavi towards Otjiwarongo’s main road.

The 16 injured occupants, including the bus driver, were rushed to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, the young girl did not survive the accident and her body was taken to the Otjiwarongo police mortuary.

Kuwinga explained that the driver of the bus reportedly lost control of the vehicle when the right rear tyre burst, causing the bus to overturn. The bus was traveling from the north to the southern direction at the time of the incident. Police investigations into the accident are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragic event.
