A 30-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon in Windhoek’s Babylon informal settlement for possession of cannabis worth N$13,750, according to police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi in the weekend crime report.
The man was found with 275 grams of cannabis and was scheduled to appear in court the following day, with police investigations still ongoing.
In Swakopmund later that same day, two Namibian male suspects, aged 23 and 25, were arrested during a police operation for possession of mandrax tablets and cannabis valued at a total of N$13,290.
Another incident occurred in Mondesa, Swakopmund, also on Friday, when a suspect was found with cannabis valued at N$1,300.
In a separate incident at the same location that same day, another man was arrested after police found him in possession of 925 grams of cannabis, valued at N$46,250.
Another man, aged 26, was arrested during police action after being found with mandrax tablets, with the value of the tablets yet to be determined.
In a separate incident, a police officer aged 42 was bitten on the stomach by a teen suspect at Oshihole village in the Onesi constituency on Saturday. The suspect, aged 19, was arrested the same day after the officer sustained a laceration from the bite.
The suspect appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court the following day.
In other reports, a 37-year-old woman was allegedly raped and robbed on Friday at around 8:00 pm in the Oshikuku constituency. The suspect took a knife and threatened the victim before raping her, and also robbed her of her cellphone valued at N$300. No recovery or arrest has been made, and police investigations are ongoing.
At Uis, a 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rape a woman on Friday. A neighbor heard noises and went to the scene, causing the suspect to flee. The suspect has been arrested and police investigations are ongoing.
Two separate motor vehicle accidents at Ondangwa and Onethindi over the weekend resulted in death. In Ondangwa, Ndjomba Nghidipohamba lost control of his vehicle at the Indangungu curve, resulting in his death and injuries to three passengers. In Onethindi, Uukelo Tomas lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn and resulting in his death and injuries to two passengers who were hospitalized for treatment.
