Deputy finance and public enterprises minister Maureen Hinda-Mbuende is facing a divorce claim filed by her husband, former ambassador and deputy minister Kaire Mbuende. Mbuende is requesting that Hinda-Mbuende return 80 head of cattle that he donated to her during their marriage.
The divorce proceedings were initiated by Mbuende last week, stating that the couple got married out of community of property in November 2018 in Keetmanshoop, with no children born from their union. According to Mbuende’s claim, he donated 78 cows and two bulls to Hinda-Mbuende to help her secure a loan. However, Hinda-Mbuende has allegedly refused to transfer ownership of the cattle into Mbuende’s name as agreed upon during the loan arrangement.
The claim states that there was a specific agreement that once the loan was granted and Hinda-Mbuende received the funds, the cattle would be re-registered in Mbuende’s name. Despite this agreement, Hinda-Mbuende has reportedly failed to comply with the arrangement. Mbuende is now seeking a provisional divorce order from the High Court, framed as an order for the restitution of conjugal rights, and requesting Hinda-Mbuende to transfer ownership of the 80 cattle into his name.
In response to the allegations, Hinda-Mbuende declined to comment on the matter, stating that she was unwell. This legal dispute highlights the complexities that can arise in divorce proceedings, especially when it comes to the division of assets and property.
The situation also underscores the importance of clear communication and transparency in financial matters within a marriage to avoid misunderstandings and disputes. It serves as a reminder of the need for couples to discuss and formalize agreements regarding shared assets and financial responsibilities to prevent conflicts in the future.
Ultimately, the outcome of this divorce claim will be determined by the legal process, as the court evaluates the evidence and arguments presented by both parties. It is a reminder of the challenges that can arise in relationships, and the importance of seeking legal guidance and support when navigating the complexities of divorce proceedings.
