City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye said it was inspiring to see residents showing up in numbers to participate in Zero Emissions Day activities on Saturday.

The day is observed annually on 21 September.

The municipality held a series of engaging activities, which included residents walking, running and cycling from its head office to Zoo Park.

Akwenye said Zero Emmissions Day, also known as car-free day, encourages individuals to forgo their cars for a day.
