The government has increased tax on tobacco and alcoholic beverages by 3.39% in line with the Southern African Customs Union Agreement.

The increase took effect on 25 February as finance minister Ericah Shafudah announced the tabling of the national budget on Thursday.

“Cigarettes will increase from N$22.81 to N$23.58 per pack of 20, pipe tobacco will increase from N$321.37 to N$332.26 per kilogram net,” she said.

Cigars have been increased from N$5 843 to N$6 041 per kg…
