Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has announced that they will be offering all their customers 82 free call minutes from Thursday to Sunday. This gesture is in honor of the late president Hage Geingob, who passed away at the age of 82.

According to MTC spokesperson Erasmus Nekundi, the number 82 symbolizes the years that Geingob lived on earth. He stated, “Geingob, the third president of Namibia, has left an indelible mark on the nation. His unwavering commitment to progress, unity, and social justice continues to inspire generations. As we celebrate his contributions, we aim to honor his vision by connecting people across Namibia.”

Nekundi emphasized the significance of each minute, stating that it holds the potential for laughter, connection, and shared memories. He encouraged everyone to seize the opportunity to reach out, express love, and reflect upon the visionary leadership of Geingob and his legacy as a leader of the Namibian people.

The 82 free call minutes will be loaded onto customers’ mobile phones starting from 22nd February, and they are valid for use only within Namibia.
