NUTS, a platform for local and international musicians to showcase and promote their work, was established by Goethe-Institut Namibia in 2014. NaJah, who will make her debut performance at NUTS, is excited about the opportunity to perform her original music live in Namibia, as there are limited platforms for musicians to do so in the country.
NaJah’s musical journey has taken her from the College of the Arts to performing at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre and the City of Windhoek Jazz Festival. Her debut album, “Too Blessed To Stress,” released in 2022, reflects her passion and authenticity, as she aims to use her music to bring about change in society and touch people’s hearts. She draws inspiration for her music from the suffering and hardships she has witnessed, addressing issues such as homelessness and informal structures in Namibia in her song “Ghetto.”
Having been influenced by a mix of international and South African township music, music has always been a significant part of NaJah’s life. Her passion for music was ignited when her mother bought her a guitar, allowing her to express herself through creating her own melodies and finding a sense of relief in the process.
The NUTS event where NaJah will be performing is an opportunity for music lovers to experience her original music firsthand. Tickets for the event will be available for purchase at the Goethe Courtyard on 2 February from 6pm. Additionally, a glimpse into NaJah’s music can be found through the provided link to her performance on YouTube.
