After making a comeback against Otto Wallin in his last fight, Anthony Joshua is optimistic about having a long and successful career, as reported by boxingnews.com. Joshua’s victory over Wallin, in his first fight with Ben Davidson, showcased a return to his dominant form. Using his jab and right hand, Joshua broke Wallin’s nose, leading to the perception that he was on the path to reclaiming the world champion title.

However, despite this triumph, doubts still linger over Joshua’s abilities at the elite level. Disappointing losses to Oleksandr Usyk and the underdog status in a potential fight with Tyson Fury have raised questions about Joshua’s standing as a top-tier boxer. Yet, Joshua remains unfazed, maintaining his belief that he will remain at the elite level for years to come.

“I’ve never left (the top level). I’ll always be (there). From the minute I’ve laced up these gloves from the amateurs until now, I’ve managed to keep my name at the top of the amateur and professional scenes. It’s just the truth, it’s just how it is, and I think it’ll be that way until I don’t want to fight anymore,” Joshua said.

Joshua’s next challenge will be against Francis Ngannou on March 8, 2024. Critics questioned Joshua’s choice of opponent, suggesting that it indicated a lack of focus on his legacy. Ngannou, despite losing a split decision to Fury, earned a top-ten ranking in the WBC after dropping Fury in the third round and going the distance, leading to his legitimacy in the eyes of boxing fans.

While some, such as former world champion, Lennon Lewis, criticize the fight for adding little to Joshua’s resume, Joshua sees the potential to solidify his career by winning the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the world. In order to achieve this, he must be prepared for a formidable opponent in Ngannou, who has proven his mettle in the ring and cannot be underestimated.

In facing Ngannou, Joshua is aiming to reach the pinnacle of the sport, but he must approach the fight with determination and focus, as underestimating his opponent could have devastating consequences for his career. Ultimately, Joshua’s next bout against Ngannou will be a crucial step towards solidifying his legacy as a boxing legend.
