Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has been announced as a mentor for the upcoming FCV Gladiator Camp taking place at Grange School in Lagos from April 1 to 5. Adepoju, who began his football career at the U-20 national team, Flying Eagles, before progressing to the senior Super Eagles squad and participating in the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup tournaments, spent a significant portion of his playing days in Spain after starting locally with 3SC and Julius Berger in Lagos.
Anticipating a rewarding experience with the students at the FCV Gladiator Camp, Adepoju expressed his excitement about the opportunity to impart his knowledge and experience. “I decided to be part of the FCV Gladiator Camp because of my passion for youth development and my belief in uncovering future football stars. I aim to demonstrate the importance of hard work and discipline in achieving success and share my journey as a former footballer with the students,” he stated.
The week-long training camp is being organized by Dynaspro Promotion in partnership with the UK-based FCV International Football Academy with the objective of identifying talented young players in Nigeria. CEO of Dynaspro Promotions, Oluseyi Oyebode, explained that the idea behind the camp stems from his commitment to promoting sports development in schools. “Nigeria possesses a wealth of sporting talent, but without early detection, these talents may go unnoticed. Our goal is to bridge this gap by identifying and nurturing young talents to help them reach their full potential,” Oyebode emphasized.
He also mentioned that the camp will feature various activities aimed at shaping and developing the participants, with the presence of Mutiu Adepoju and other experienced coaches providing inspiration and guidance to the students. Oyebode further disclosed that four exceptional students from the camp will be granted scholarships by FCV International Football Academy, allowing them to pursue both football and education in the UK.
This initiative not only offers young footballers the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents but also provides a platform for learning and growth both on and off the field. With Adepoju’s mentorship and the support of expert coaches, the students participating in the FCV Gladiator Camp have a chance to receive top-notch training and guidance to help them fulfill their potential in the sport.
Overall, the collaboration between Dynaspro Promotion and FCV International Football Academy underscores a shared commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting football development in Nigeria. Through initiatives like the FCV Gladiator Camp, the future of Nigerian football looks promising, with young players being given the tools and opportunities to succeed in the sport.
