Mpox: Head of Africa CDC urges partners to honour pledges as death toll tops 1,000

The number of mpox-related deaths has topped 1,000 in outbreaks currently affecting 18 of Africa’s 55 nations.

The head of the continent’s top public health agency unveiled the latest figures on Thursday (Oct. 17).

The demise, this week, of 50 infected people brought the total of victims to 1,100.
