This meeting was distinguished by the presentation of actions and programs promoting entrepreneurship, including Ana Moukawil’s efforts to help project holders integrate into the formal economy.

Helping create and develop an entrepreneurial spirit among women in general and artisans in particular is the main objective of a women’s entrepreneurship training workshop held on Wednesday, March 13, in celebration of International Women’s Day at the Training and Education Center of the National Mutual Aid in Assilah. Organized by the Mediterranean Youth Forum-Morocco (Fomeje), in partnership with the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (Anapec), the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), the National Mutual Aid, and the municipality of Assilah, the workshop was dedicated to women artisans, apprentices, and trainers at this center. “This is our first direct contact with the beneficiary women. This workshop will be followed by a series of meetings in their favor. This allows us to understand their ideas and expectations in order to provide follow-up in their training and support journey,” said Ali Ifstissen, prefectural director of Anapec Tangier-Assilah, noting that these meetings aim to inform women about the actions and programs implemented to promote women’s entrepreneurship in Morocco.

Led by Saïd El Ouarari, a specialized self-employment counselor, this first workshop featured the presentation of the “Ana Moukawil” program, which aims to support around 100,000 entrepreneurs and project holders by 2026 to help them integrate into the formal economy. Launched in December 2023, “Ana Moukawil targets 40,000 project holders, 37,000 self-employed individuals, 10,000 informal economic units, and 13,000 very small businesses,” reported Mr. El Ouarari, highlighting the importance of Ana Moukawil’s contribution through the implementation of incentives for beneficiaries in terms of funding, support, and training.

The meeting began with the opening of an exhibition of traditional women’s clothing from various sectors such as traditional sewing and embroidery, and their trainers at this center. “It is a tradition for us to organize each year, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, an exhibition of traditional haute couture to celebrate women from different sewing and embroidery sectors as well as trainers at the center,” said Najat Ouychou, director of the Training and Education Center of the National Mutual Aid in Assilah, emphasizing that the exhibition aims to showcase the creativity and expertise of the exhibiting women, which they have managed to develop with the support and guidance of Fomeje’s staff.
