The EAC-L’Boulvart Association is organizing the 9th edition of the Jidar-Rabat Street Art Festival from April 18 to 28, 2024. This year, the festival puts emphasis on abstract and hyperrealism by inviting renowned street artists known for the delicacy and precision of their work.

The walls of the capital are slipping into a new skin. The Jidar-Rabat Street Art Festival announces its return for the 9th edition scheduled from April 18 to 28, 2024. Organized by the EAC-L’Boulvart Association, this must-see event will welcome twelve artists from eight different countries, invited to occupy the walls of the capital for ten days. “This year, the festival puts emphasis on abstract and hyperrealism by inviting street artists known for the delicacy and precision of their work,” indicate the organizers. Indeed, the lineup includes Alexis Diaz (Puerto Rico), Nespoon (Poland), Kartelovic (Germany), Facio (Argentina), HNRX (Austria), Fikos (Greece), Kaori Izumiya (Japan), Luogo Comune (Italy), Normal (Morocco), Majda Jarbili (Morocco), Houssam El Ghallal (Morocco), and Acoby (Morocco).

Furthermore, this artistic event offers the Collective Wall. According to the organizers, it is a laboratory where aspiring street artists selected on file learn about muralism under the guidance of their elders. “For 10 days, they will benefit from the supervision and advice of Ed Oner and Basec to perfect their technique and create a common mural together,” they explain.

Still in the world of street art, Jidar proposes a new meeting this year, designed as a dialogue between the outside urban world and the intimate space of an art gallery. This “OUT/IN” is divided into three parts animated by the Spanish artist Txemy: a mural performance, a meeting with the artist, and an exhibition of small format paintings at the Ambiguous Workshop.

Exchange and sharing are also at the heart of this edition’s program. Guided tours are scheduled every weekend. “Residents of Rabat will have the choice between two different routes to discover the genesis and anecdotes of the mural works that are now part of the city’s cultural heritage.” Finally, the Jidar talks welcome the public in the auditorium of the Mohammed VI Museum to discuss openly with street artists about their journey.

It must be said that the Jidar festival has been able to maintain an organic connection with the city that serves as both its backdrop and support. It is deeply connected to its environment. “Creating a local street art culture, building relationships with residents, nurturing the talents of tomorrow, fostering the emergence of a sustainable ecosystem… this local anchorage infuses all the activities featured in the program of the 9th edition,” note the organizers. Since the creation of Jidar in 2015, the biggest names in national and international muralism have contributed to giving a new face to the capital, now adorned with a hundred murals.
